Keep your identity!
In 1947, after war, our Ukrainian-Czech family arrived to former Czechoslovakia from west-ukrainian small town Brody in within the first migration phase. People living in displaced villages in Žatecko did not receive us very dearly. I started studying of Ukrainian Philology at faculty of arts. We established a Ukrainian group with students from Volyňe and Prešovsko. During the sixty years I participated on various activities: a member of Ukrainian troupe, singing on worships, organizing of concerts, performances etc. The Ukrainian assimilation to Czech environment was much easier than nowadays. There are more and more Ukrainians coming to Czech Republic and searching work opportunities. I think it is very important to hand down the Ukrainian language and traditions to younger generation in order to keep our identity.
